The Center for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

At Total Spine Specialists

Our spine surgeons at The Center for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery are board-certified with advanced fellowship training at renowned institutions, including Harvard Medical School. They alone comprise one third of all physicians in the state of North Carolina elected to the prestigious Cervical Spine Research Society (only 175 members worldwide) and they are also members of the North American Spine Society. Our practice has the experience of having performed over 7,000 spine surgeries. More than one half of the approximately 800 cases performed each year by our practice use minimally invasive techniques. Using our techniques, we are often able to treat without fusion cases that other surgeons would need to fuse.

Our focus is minimally invasive microendoscopic spine surgery for herniated discs and nerve compression from bone spurs in the neck and back. Using cutting edge techniques, most cases can be performed on an outpatient basis, as opposed to an inpatient stay of up to two to three days for traditional open incision surgery. Most patients return to work after a few days and experience significantly less pain than with traditional surgery. The incision is less than one-inch long, as opposed to the lengthy incision required for an open approach. If necessary and in certain cases, spine fusion can be performed with these same techniques.
